manual for survey 49

written by JOSHUA STEWART ( joshua_stewart@bigpond.com )

these pograms are used by me everyday. writen by me for me some things may not suit you style of work but i will be happy to make changes for a fee

start buy pressing the survey button
menu show list of programs use arrow keys to scroll up and down
'e' button to cancel
'f' button to select
for all programs if there is no information entered at the prompt pressing enter will take you to the next step or the main menu.

total close.... BEARINGS IN DEGREES

choose type of close
follow the prompts i.e. enter bearing the prees enter. enter dist then press enter( OR COORDS IF YOU PICK COORDINATES)
when you have finished entering the data press enter at the bearing prompt an a new menu will appear. Then you can choose the type of close you want. as well as the area, accuracy, bowditch adjustment, new close or resume close. calculations just take out of the program this is available on all menus. to exit press cancel.

Point-to-Point.....

select program as previously explained
select new or old job. there is a couple of jobs in the program but these can be deleted later. if new job you must enter a name this can be anything ,which is what makes these programs different (not just numbers like other programs). you dont need to press the alpha key just type the name.
for a new job you will to add a point by co-ordinates. but then points can be added by traverse or radiations.points can be stored as any number, you will be told if that point allready exists.the porgram is limited to 40 points per job. this can be changed, but nothing is free. if 40 is enough go for it. 2 way off-set is a set out porgram select you set out point i.e. station or control mark, then enter the point number to set out. you then have the option to offset this point if you wish to do this just enter the offset bearing and dist and you get the answer, plus the reverse bearing offset this is useful for setting out boxing on subdivision stormwater and sewer offsets or anything that requires a offset from a given point. if you just want a join between two points press enter for offset bearing and distance.
you can check if you have a point stored using the check point option
curve calc allows you to calc radiations to a given number points on a curve just enter stn number point number for center bearing to T.P. 1 and T.P.2 and the number of points on the curve including th T.P.s REMEMBER TO ALWAYS GO CLOCKWISE AND THIS CAN GIVE THE RADIATION TO THE FIRST POINT IF YOU PASS THOUGH 360 DEGREES BUT NOT ALWAYS. press enter to scroll though the radiations.jobs can be deleted as can points though the relevent options.

Road Set-out....."""you may need to fix unit to 3 decimal places"""

for me the only program in this lot that is useful is the vertical curve calc.
follow the prompts it explains itself. the I.P. R.L. is the design R.L. when all information is entered just type the changage and the R.L. will be displayed. press enter at the a blank prompt will take you to the main menu. the other programs are basic to say the least. i just wrote them one night and have not really checked them. if they are proven to work can some one let me know.

Top of Stake level.....

this just calcs the level of a top of stake ( or whatever) given stn R.L., inst Ht, target Ht, then enter differnece in height it will tell level on top f stake. press enter. type in design R.L. and the programs gives you up or down and a distance. I have found this useful in my day to day work mainly subdivision construction (i calc alot of levels)

level run......

just enter back sight R.L. and then follow the prompts you have to choose foresight or backsight and at the end gives a misclose.

Grade calc....

this program was the first i wrote and is not much use but can be handy. give grade as a percentage or ratio.

exit.....

just to leave the program.

when you leave the program it displays a message back up all data now this only applies to people using rom 1.17. if you are using a 1.18 you dont need to worry about this. I had trouble will my calculator loosing its memory with the older rom.

I do belive these programs work very well. but they are designed by me for me. other programs get to confusing with endless amounts of softkeys. and i do think my system is better. all comments are welcome and appreciated and can be sent to joshua_stewart@bigpond.com

thanks for choosing to try my programs
