1. Installation Instructions for SAP2000 Version 8.3.3
------------------------------------------------------
The installation instructions are available in three places.
A. The "SAP2000 Installation Card" link on the SAP2000 CD browser.
B. A printed document included with the program package.
C. In the SAP_Install_Instructions_V8.pdf file in the root directory of the CD.
The instructions include information about the software protection system used and
installation options and instructions. You can choose between a Standalone or
Network installation.

For Network installations, see the "License Manager System Administrator's
Guide" for more detailed information about the License Manager and the License
Manager Administration program "WlmAdmin.exe".

For Network installations of version 8.2.7 and above you can create a text file,
Level.txt, and put the Program Level in it. Save this file to the License Manager
subdirectory of the SAP2000 directory. This file will cause the program to find the
license faster. Note that this file will be included when a new license is sent.

If you experience problems with the license please refer to the appropriate
"License Trouble Shooting Guide..." located in the SAP2000 folder.

2. Specifying Program Level for Version 8.2.5 and above
-------------------------------------------------------
If you have multiple SAP2000 levels (Advanced, Nonlinear, Plus and Standard) running
on a network you might need to specify which one you want to run. There is a "ProgramLevel"
entry in the SAP2000.ini file which you can set. The SAP2000.ini file is located in the
workstation's Window directory. The SAP2000.ini file takes precedence over the Level.txt
file in item 1 above.

3. Installing over older version 8.xx
-------------------------------------
Version 8.3.0 cannot coexist with another version 8.xx on the same machine. It will
first uninstall the older version from that machine.

Network installations contain a Setup for the license manager, SentinelLM 7.2.0.
If you are currently using SentinelLM 7.1.1 you should upgrade it to 7.2.0. First
uninstall the old version 7.1.1. Then run the Setup for the new version 7.2.0. To
register your saved license file, copy it over the one in the ETABS License Manager
directory and run "lslicense.bat".

4. Updating older version 8.xx from the ftp
-------------------------------------------
The update from the ftp is not a full installation. Only newer files are included in
the zipped file. These should be extracted in the folder where the current program is.
The file gdiplus.dll should be copied onto the windows system or system32 folder unless
a file by this name is already present.

5. Updating older version 7.xx or 6.xx
--------------------------------------
Version 8.xx can coexist with any version 7.xx and/or 6.xx.

6. Changes from Version 8.08
-----------------------------

Changes from V8.3.6 to V8.3.7 (03/16/2005)
------------------------------------------
- A bug that affected Auto Static Seismic Loads when
internal meshing was used has been fixed. Models
using this feature in the presence of internal
meshing should be reverified.

Changes from V8.3.5/1 to V8.3.6 (03/06/2005)
--------------------------------------------
- V9 and V10 licenses now recognized.
- An updated Chinese Steel shape database is
included compliments of our Chinese dealer.
- Minor bug fixes.

Changes from V8.3.4/1 to V8.3.5/1 (10/21/2004)
----------------------------------------------
- Minor bug fixes.

Changes from V8.3.4 to V8.3.4/1 (08/11/2004)

reporting.
- Australian/New Zealand Steel shape database added
compliments of our New Zealand dealer.

Changes from V8.3.3/1 to V8.3.4 (07/11/2004)
-------------------------------------------
- An error was fixed in steel axial hinge ductility
calculations. The error affected hinges that were
partially defined. Fully defaulted or fully specified
hinges were unaffected.
- Other minor bug fixes.

Changes from V8.3.3 to V8.3.3/1 (05/19/2004)
-------------------------------------------
- A minor bug that caused recently opened files
not to open correctly from the File menu has been
corrected. The problem was only in V8.3.3.
The files always opened correctly when using the
Open menu item or the Open tool button.

Changes from V8.3.2 to V8.3.3 (05/04/2004)
------------------------------------------
- Reissued on CD.
- License installation instructions updated.

Changes from V8.3.1/1 to V8.3.2 (04/28/2004)
------------------------------------------
- Minor bug fixes mostly related to display.

Changes from V8.3.1 to V8.3.1/1 (03/04/2004)
------------------------------------------
- The Cold Formed Steel member design has been updated. This is still
beta. Import/Export of Cold Formed sections and member design data
is incomplete.
- The BAG bridge model generator has a minor fix. It was unnecessarily
further meshing in some cases.
- The Section Designer has been updated. Should now be faster for some
sections.
- A bug that caused erratic program behavior when concrete members were
added to a model after concrete frame design has been corrected.

Changes from V8.3.0 to V8.3.1 (02/27/2004)
------------------------------------------
- Some significant errors in bridge loading have been corrected. These
errors were present in versions 8.2.9 and 8.3.0. They do not affect
earlier versions. Specifically:
(1) The HL-93S load was not calculating negative moment in the frame
elements, nor axial forces in columns at interior supports.
(2) The HSn-44L load was using the shear rider for all responses,
including moment.
(3) Reactions at joints directly connected to bridge lane elements
were not being correctly computed for moving-load analysis.
- An error was corrected that caused failure to converge in some nonlinear
static analysis cases that include P-delta effects if the structure has
moment end releases in the frame elements.
- The Help has been revised.
- Cold Formed Steel member design has been added. This is
currently a beta version for this option.
- Other minor bug fixes.

Changes from V8.2.9 to V8.3.0 (01/29/2004)
------------------------------------------
- Reissued on CD.
- The Verification Manaul and Examples have been updated.
- Support for Frameworks Plus V7.1/7.2 has been added.
- Section Designer has been updated.
- A bug in the recovery of stresses for warped shells for nonlinear analysis
has been corrected. This only affected V8.2.9.

Changes from V8.2.8 to V8.2.9 (01/15/2004)
------------------------------------------
- P-delta force calculation in the frame element has been improved for nonlinear
static analysis and buckling analysis cases.
- Temperature loads on Frame elements now work correctly in large-deflection
nonlinear static analysis cases.
- Other minor bug fixes.

Changes from V8.2.7 to V8.2.8 (12/12/2003)
------------------------------------------
- The Direct Integration Time History Analysis has been reinstated in
the Nonlinear version of the program.
- Other minor bug fixes.

Changes from V8.2.6 to V8.2.7 (10/13/2003)
------------------------------------------
- A new type of Nllink property has been added, called "Plastic (Pivot)".
It is a multi-linear plasticity model similar to the "Plastic (Kinematic)" model,
but it dissipates less energy. The original Kinematic model is appropriate for
metals, whereas the new Pivot model is more appropriate for materials that
experience degradation upon load reversal. The Pivot model is currently based
on the popular Takeda model. In the near future, additional parameters will be
added that will allow more control of the type of stiffness degradation.
- The P-M-M frame hinge has been improved to better handle collapse of the hinge.
During hardening, plastic deformation occurs normal to the PMM surface, as before.
During collapse, plastic deformation occurs in the radial direction, either
(a) toward the origin if axial collapse is permitted, or (b) toward the P axis
if axial collapse is not allowed. The program may have to iterate (a lot) to force
this collapse. The analysis may fail to converge if axial collapse is permitted
and there is not an adequate load path by which to transfer pre-existing loads
(e.g., gravity) away from the element. If convergence cannot be achieved, you
may want to either (a) not allow axial collapse, (b) accept that collapse
is imminent and re-design the structure, or (c) consider a direct-integration
time-history analysis.
- Internal meshing of Solids is now enabled
- Section Designer has been updated
- Other minor bug fixes
